ReStore - Our Sustainable Business Model

Teton Habitat operates on a sustainable model. Our ReStore not only helps our community recycle goods and prevents those from accumulating into our landfill, but it also funds the large majority of our program overhead.  This model allows for more donor dollars to impact directly the construction of our homes. Volunteers make homes affordable and leverage donor dollars. Lastly, mortgage payments are reinvested to build future homes.

Our Homeowners

Habitat Homeowners are selected by a Homeowners Selection Committee made up of local community members from diverse backgrounds, professions and ethnicities. Partner homeowners are chosen based on three key criteria: 1) need for housing, 2) willingness to partner with Habitat, and 3) ability to pay their Habitat home mortgage. All applicants are screened for credit history, criminal background and citizenship or permanent resident status. If selected, our partner homeowners invest at least 500 hours of labor, or "sweat equity" in building their homes and those of their neighbors and also attend homeowner education courses to prepare them for successful ownership. Habitat always extends a "hand up, not a hand out." Learn More.
